This girl has style

I have no idea where Schmoo gets her fashion sense from. She has definite preferences. She rarely wears pants now, opting for skirts or dresses. She still rarely wears ponytails in her hair and if she does, it's not for very long. She's happy with one pair of shoes and isn't particularly motivated to learn to tie her laces so she can wear her proper running shoes. She already is refusing to wear a sweater AND her rain jacket, opting for just her jacket most days. She chooses her own clothes in the morning and rarely do I make comment. This is not something I am prepared to argue over. I want her to have her own style. I'm sure it will be soon enough that she will be demanding to dress like "everyone else", so for right now I take great pleasure in the outfits that she creates each morning.

The last two days have been pretty low key. Two long days as school and work. This blog will not be the place for venting my opinions about my new job, but this past two days have been a real eye opener to the work done by my predecessor. I have a big clean up job to do with limited time. A new challenge to be sure. The kids enjoyed staying at school longer. In fact, Schmoo is now requesting to stay even LONGER at school, so she can stay in the after-school care with the big kids who finish at 3pm. Not likely to happen. Both kids are pretty exhausted by the time I get them home at 3:30pm. More stimulation is the last thing they need.

Papa returned safely from his business trip and was waiting on the doorstep when we returned home today. He was talking to Airlie through the door as he had forgotten his house key. The kids were both happy to see him and he tells me that Bean got upset tonight when he told him that he was going away again on the weekend. Both kids got a turn sleeping (or kicking) their mama while Papa was away. I brought Schmoo into bed with me the first night and then Bean came sneaking into bed in the middle of the night last night. I snuck away to the gym at bedtime to get in a gym fix. Amazing how unfit one feels after not exercising for a whole week.

Bean was cute this morning on the way to school. From out of nowhere he said "Mama, do you remember when Nana came to our house?". I proceeded to tell him that Papa was going to see Nana and Grandad, to which he replied "I want to go and see Nana at her house. Can we go to Nana's house one day?" I told him that we would definitely go one day to visit, just not this time with Papa. It's so great to see their little memories working.

Hi
I was so touched to read on your blog that Fraser remembered me coming to visit and I am so pleased that he wants to come here again. As for Sophie's fashion taste I think you are quite right to encourage her individuality because as you say she will soon want to wear what everyone else has.
