Cowtown sunshine

The sun was shining on us today in Cowtown.  We had a great day just hanging out with our family and friends.  Our drive yesterday was pretty smooth.  After a full morning of work and school, we hit the road at lunchtime and made it to Cowtown in the usual 8 hour timeframe.  We made a couple of stops along the way - pee break, gas, dinner at McDonalds.  Bean eventually fell asleep, but Schmoo stayed up until we arrived to keep me company and tell me stories about school.  It was pretty cute.  The most exciting news was that she's figured out how to whistle!  About half way through the trip she started to whistle and asked me "is this whistling, Mama?".  What a smart cookie.

Today started early, of course.  No reprieve for the tired Mama who worked and then drove 8 hours.  Bean started to rummage around at his usual 6am.  I managed to keep the kids relatively quiet for an hour before H work up upstairs and came down to find the kids.  No school for H today, so we all headed out to the local farmer's market to buy some goodies.  Bean was NOT happy and put up a fuss most of the time, demanding a muffin.  I finally gave in (mostly because I wanted a muffin too) and then headed to our next stop, the bank to meet Grandma Lady, Auntie E and the kids.  We had a successful bank stop, lunch at Boston Pizza and then play down by the reservoir.  Bean's mood shifted after a bit of a tumble, so we packed up and headed back to Auntie V's house so he could have a nap.  It took some time, but eventually he fell asleep.  The rest of the family came along too, which meant I got to sneak out to the mall for an hour or so while they supervised my children.  Schmoo had a great time running around with K and her neighbour out in the playground behind the house.

I returned from the mall with a few goodies and we promptly fed the kids supper.  Thanks to Team Indi for some great grub!  Auntie V even made homemade squash soup.  More playground time and then the movie Space Chimps for the kids so the adults could eat in some quiet.  Auntie E headed out after dinner and the movie is almost finished, so bedtime is just around the corner.  Looking forward to another fun day tomorrow before returning home on Sunday.

I did speak to Papa today in length and received the sad news from England.  Nana and Grandad are in our thoughts and prayers more than ever tonight.  We love you tons.
