Today has been a fun filled fall day (try saying that 10 times fast). After a super busy week at work, it felt like a real treat to be able to lie in bed until 7:30am, allowing the kids to watch a couple of shows and eat their bananas on the couch. It was especially nice as we had a late night visit from Bean twice in the night and an early morning visit from Schmoo. So not exactly a full night's sleep on our part.
Bean and I dropped Schmoo off at school and carried on to the gym for our Friday morning workout. He is pretty content to go there on his own on Fridays and today there were even a couple of other kids that he knew. We made a pit stop at the Toyoto dealership on the way home to resolve the head light issue. Turns out Uncle D and I were trying to install the new bulb in the highbeam socket, not the head light, so it was a quick fix. Home for a shower for Mama, a play for Bean and a chat with Papa before we headed back out to pick up some stuff for lunch and to pick up Schmoo. We headed straight out of town for a lunch playdate with Bean's friends G and F who had met up at G's house. The kids had a great time playing together. This is the two other moms that I used to get to regularly on Fridays when our babies were first born. We all commented how our little group has gone from four to six in the last year or so as they have both had a second baby.
We spent some time outside running in the fall sunshine, playing soccer, Simon Says, Red Light - Green Light and kicking the leaves around. I packed up the kids around 2pm when Bean's mood started to shift and we headed home for a nap. Both kids zonked out almost instantly, allowing me some time to work through some stuff I brought home from work. Papa returned from running his errands in town just as the kids were waking up, so he threw a pizza in the oven for their dinner. With a nap under their belts, the kids weren't in any hurry for bedtime, so after a shower they got to watch a couple of shows.
I did finally get to meet our new neighbour today. I was busy organizing things in our bedroom when I heard Airlie barking her ballistic "I see a dog" bark so I opened the door to call her in. I could see him walking up in his yard, so I went out to say hello. He has the cutest little puppy - only 11 weeks only and it's name is Indi!! He seems pretty nice. Single guy, moved here from Calgary in April. At least now we've met. Schmoo even came out in her dripping wet hair to check him out and say hello.
Once the kids were tucked into bed, I headed out to my friend's birthday party. With no babysitter available, Papa and I are tag teaming our activities tonight. I had an hour and a half to go to my party to be back in time for him to head into town for his concert. He gets the later night, but I've got 5 hours of unwatched TV shows still to watch.

Hi Kiersten
Loved the photos on the blog of Fraser playing in the fall leaves. I used to love them as a child until suddenly a 'leaf' jumped and it turned out to be a frog!!
What the? The neighbour is from Calgary and has a dog called Indi? Wow, you are destined to be great friends.
Too funny about the light bulb in the van....can't wait to tell Don!
Wow, you slept in til 7:30....you realize that is earlier than when we get up on a school morning. I so would not make it in the real world anymore!
The fall pics look great...I love fall!
