So I have a confession to make. I'm starting to love short days. A quick fix of adult life at work - which as a side note is about to become much more enjoyable now that I've finally caught up with the heap of work that was waiting for me when I started. Lunch at home and then a long afternoon nap. I seriously contemplated a trip to the pool this afternoon with the kids. But Bean's bed beckoned and all three of us ended up having a nice long siesta. I figure it's good for all of us. We're getting back into the swing of this work/school routine and some nice big afternoon naps are good for all of our bodies. It also gave me lots of energy for my trip to the gym tonight! What a pampered wife I am too.....I get to go to the gym and return home to a gourmet lamb & beef skewer dinner thanks to my wonderful husband.
The morning wasn't such a smooth start. As I got the kids into the van for Papa to take them to school, Schmoo lashed out with some back talk and I had to scold her and take away her TV privileges for today. Apparently she was silent the whole way to Bean's school. As I sat at my desk working away, I got an early morning call from Papa asking for me to tell Schmoo that I still loved her. Poor thing. It's such a hard thing....scolding your childen, but so necessary at the same time. At least there was an opportunity to reinforce to her that I still love her. And of course we had several discussions when we got home from school about no, she couldn't watch shows and why she couldn't watch shows. It's going to sink in, isn't it? She did get a treat from her Papa while I was at the gym - some movie preview watching on the computer with Bean. Papa videoed them watching. You gotta love those deep laughs.
Bean was full of happy juice today...what a treat. He got all dressed up this morning without any fuss for his picture day. He had removed the vest before he even left the house, but I think Papa got him to put it back on and convince him to leave it on for pictures at least. When I picked him up at lunch time, the vest and long sleeve shirt had been removed and he was back to just his t-shirt. Papa asked him tonight whether he smiled for his picture, to which Bean replied "no". I can't wait to see what the picture actually looks like.
