She shoots, she scores

I'm riding on a high tonight, despite my aching foot. My motivation level to hit the soccer field tonight after 2 weeks away from any kind of real exercise was extremely low. But I made myself do it. I put on my new David Beckham shinpads that I got for Christmas and drove off in the snow to play soccer. The coach decided he was going to get us moving tonight, putting us through a variety of drills mostly for his own amusment. For example, we had to race in teams of 5, dribbling the ball to one end, spinning around 10 times and then dribble (or attempt to dribble) the ball back to our team. Ha, ha, ha..... We even played a 30 minute game tonight. That's big for our group. We each had 3 subs so there was lots, or maybe just a bit more energy on the field to go around. My highlight....my first goal ever!! And it was a beauty. A real goal, set up with a pass from the outside to me in the box! I was so proud! My left foot doesn't seem so happy about it though. I've obviously strained something that keeps flaring up as I'm now sat here with the ice bag on my foot and seriously contemplating some ibuprofen.

But backing up a little bit. It was back to the grind today. Up early and off to school and work. Both kids were eager to get going. I had a pretty successful morning at work and tromped up the hill to pick up Schmoo at noon. While waiting for her to come out, I received an invite for her to go to a friend's house for the afternoon! How exciting for both of us! Off she went with her friend M and her dad and back I went into town to get the car insurance organized before picking up Bean. He, of course, was not happy about not getting a playdate, so I got on the cell phone and invited ourselves over to C & H's house for our own playdate. He got to hang with C & H for a couple of hours and I got to do my grocery shopping without children. Plus I got to catch up with D a little bit.

So we didn't get home until after 3pm....kind of like a long day. The kids were happy to be home and immediately fell into organizing their rooms for birthday parties for their stuffies. Nana's letter arrived today and Schmoo's new dog has officially been named Poppy! Thanks for the suggestion, Nana. A low key supper, a bath and bedtime before I headed off to soccer. The other highlight of my day...seeing Schmoo set up her stuffies and her new drawing board from Grandpa W to play school in her room. She loved it when I told her that I used to play school all the time with my stuffies when I was a little girl.
