Today was a recovery day. Low key, not much energy expired. Papa got up with the kids and let me have a nice long sleep-in, in an attempt to help my recovery from this drasted sinus cold. It felt great to just snooze away in my bed, tucked under the duvet. The kids were happy to snuggle on the couch with their mountain of blankets and watch Horton Hears a Who. We had a nice chat on Skype with Nana today. Bean had requested a call last night, but it was too late to call, so I made sure to get it in today.
The rest of the day didn't hold much more excitement. With clear skies overnight, the temperatures plummeted and it was below -10C all day. Schmoo and I ventured out around lunchtime to do some errands and Papa and Bean managed a walk around the block with Airlie while we were out. Schmoo and I had some nice "girl time" - the highlights being her hot chocolate (which she managed to spill most of down an aisle in Safeway) and a pepperoni pizza lunch at Panago. We returned home for quiet time and then the start of the movie "Meet the Robinsons".
Papa put together a scrumptious chicken dinner for all of us to eat together which ended badly. The kids got into a giggling silliness fit and the end of the movie was called off. I still struggle some days to figure out the best method of discipline as it seems different things work with each child. We did attempt a family game of Snakes and Ladders before bed, but Bean and I snuck off early for a story and a snuggle as he was getting restless. Just when I think I can push his bedtime a bit longer, I am quickly reminded that we're all much happier if he's tucked in by 6:30pm. With dinner under our belts, Papa and I settled in for an early movie on the couch. A good pick tonight - Charlie Bartlett. Auntie E called to announce their safe arrival back home after a long two day trip. All her sickies were tucked in bed and she was getting herself settled back at home. Not sure what's on the schedule tomorrow...probably a trip to church and then we'll see what the afternoon holds based on Mama's energy level.
