The uncooperative internet

So our internet has been playing up again the last couple of days. It comes and goes with no rhyme or reason and of course was totally unfunctional last night when it came time to blog. Hence, no new years day blog. Our New Years Day was peaceful, much like last year's when I go back and read my entry from that day. No trip to the movies this year, just lots of time outside in the snow. We continued to get mass amounts of snow yesterday, so poor Papa spent about 3 hours total outside clearing it up. The kids and I pitched in and helped in the morning, but got distracted with playing after awhile. I even got both of them to climb halfway up our road and ride the toboggan down, much to the amusement of our neighbour across the street! We made a short trip into town to pick up a few things for dinner, have a hot chocolate at the coffee shop nad return home for quiet time. Papa was amazed to find that Wal-Mart was closed! on New Years Day. The DuPonts returned from their play out in the valley in time for the kids' bedtime and a nice spaghetti dinner all together. They performed a mad rush to start packing up most of their things in order to head out this morning. They went to bed early and we snuggled up on the couch to watch "The Da Vinci Code" on TV. Funny how much easier it was to make it to midnight last night compared to New Years Eve!

Today was high and low. The DuPonts were up and organized by 10:30am to hit the road home. It was sad to see them go after a whirlwind month of activity having them here. Cousin I was ready to go. Poor thing hasn't been feeling well for the last couple of days so will probably be happy to get home to her own space and things. Schmoo kept commenting how she didn't want them to go and asking whether we could go on a holiday to Utah. We gave them big hugs and waved to them out the window as they drove away. Then we were out the door ourselves for some tobogganing with our friends C & H. It was a beautiful sunny day here, so it was great to be outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Schmoo was her usual daredevil self, hurtling down the hill both in and out of the toboggan. Bean wasn't as much of an eager participant, more content to just watch, but I did get him to slide down with me a couple of times. I even managed to get a couple of quick videos of Schmoo and H and then Schmoo sliding like a penguin. D & I took the kids out for a proper restaurant lunch with relatively good success. The kids were full of energy and as with most restaurant outings the meal came to a close quickly.

We returned home for quiet time. My cold snuck up on me again after a busy morning out and about and I spent most of the afternoon in bed nursing head and body aches. Bean FINALLY had a nap today and Schmoo was pretty cooperative in her quiet time too. By the time Papa got home from work at dinner time, I was ready for my bed again so curled up on the couch with Bean for a big snuggle and finally found my way to bed. Bean's request for a bedtime snuggle got me out of bed and up for supper. I'm still feeling awful. Nothing specific, just run down and achy. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep well tonight.
