Today has been full of activity and the day started early. Bean was up at 4:00am and refused to go back to sleep. Papa and I spent two hours shuttling him back to bed or turning off the light and telling him to go back to sleep until he woke up Schmoo (at 6:00am) and it was game over. Papa got up with the kids, leaving me to another couple of hours of sporatic sleep before I got up and made my way to the gym. Bean's spirits were hit and miss today. His energy is good but he's still not eating much. His general disposition being as it is, it is difficult to tell what is a real need for comfort and what is his usual sensitive nature and neediness. At least he had a nice long sleep this afternoon after I took him to watch Schmoo at her first soccer class. He slept like a rock and when I went to wake him up for supper, he was sweating and groggy.
Schmoo's afternoon was go, go, go. She started asking to go to soccer as soon as I got up. It was a long wait and a lot of asking to get us to 12:30pm when we finally headed out the door. She did great! She ran around with all the other kids and I think in no time will be back in the swing of things. We packed up quickly and headed off to her next activity right after soccer - her friend E's birthday party. It was already in full swing when we got there. They had been skating at an outdoor rink for an hour and were just getting back to the house for hot chocolate and opening presents. I dropped her off and returned at 4pm to find a new puppy, instead of my daughter. They had a teenager doing face painting and Schmoo returned with her face all done up like a dalmation. She loved showing it off to both Grandma Lady and Cousin I on Skype after supper time as well as posing for pictures!
So tonight has been all about enjoying the benefits of two TVs and two family rooms. I've been snuggled up with my taped television upstairs and the boys have been containing their shouts and cursing to the downstairs TV. How gentlemanly of them to let me have the big TV!! We have another busy day tomorrow before the week starts again. Schmoo and I are headed up to the hill for her first ski lesson tomorrow afternoon. Wish us luck!

Good luck skiing!
Life is full of ambushes when it comes to illnesses especially when you can identify with them in your own family and close friends.
It was a doozy, wasn't it.
