Progress Report

A day delayed, but here's the skiing progress report from yesterday!

First, one must remember that skiing is actually all about the hot chocolate. It is the first thing a 5 year old thinks of when she's told she's going skiing. French fries are a close second, but this little girl would probably let the fries go as long as she gets her hot chocolate at some point during the ski outing. And she did, after her lesson...and some french fries, but those were mostly for the Mama.

We had a great day yesterday. Off to church in the morning. She isn't putting up a fuss these days about going to church, which is nice. It's a combination of her knowing there will be some of her friends there and getting some girl time together, I think. We came home for some lunch and then left the boys to go swimming and headed up to the hill. We even managed to find the sun about halfway up the mountain! A real treat after the grey skies of these last few weeks. We also managed to find lots of friends. Both kids love running into their friends when we're out and about and with skiing I think it's a selling feature for Schmoo to see who else is skiing too that she knows. I did a bunch of runs with her up the row tow first, using a harness that another friend lent me. What a difference from the pole, Auntie E!! She did great and we enthusiastic about her lesson. I dropped her off at 2:30pm and spent the next hour trying to spy on her from the lodge. I wanted to see her, but I didn't want her to see me.

The lesson was a success. It was a young guy, who thought it was funny when I called him a grown-up. He said that she seems to have the snow plow going okay (which surprised me because I thought she didn't....but I think that's because I've been hanging onto her), but we need to work on turning. So I think next weekend will be a trip to the hill with Mama and then maybe another lesson the next weekend. It was obvious she was pretty tired though, so I think we'll opt for a morning outing instead next time. We returned to the lodge for hot chocolate and french fries and she got to see her favorite "boy" friend who was up there skiing with his parents too.

We returned home for the kids dinner and then our trusty babysitter came over so Papa and I could go out for wings and pizza and see "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Good movie, despite contrary reviews from another friend and even nicer to have a date night after such a busy week.

Today.....not much to tell. Short day at work, quiet afternoon at home, soccer for Mama. I think I've got Bean's stomach bug so hopefully I'll be feeling okay tomorrow....or maybe I ran it out of my system tonight!
