The Activities

So today was all about getting ready. Schmoo was lucky enough to go out for a "play-over" at her friend C's house all morning, while Bean stayed home with me to clean and get organized. It actually worked out really well. He rarely has anytime at the house all by himself and he played the entire time happily. He would come and check on me every once in a while, but for the most part was content to just play with whatever was holding his attention at the moment - his trains, Schmoo's art box, the stuffed seals.

We picked up Schmoo after lunch and after a quick grocery shop came home for quiet time. Bean slept again today, which was great news. I got some pasta salad ready for dinner and suddenly the afternoon was gone and it was dinner time. Schmoo played some computer games after she finished her quiet time. I headed out around 5pm for a quick gym fix and was home in time for bedtime. Papa had given both kids a big bath and they were all snuggled up on the couch watching Babar when I got home. Papa headed out shortly after bedtime for his soccer game and I've been pulling together the rest of my things for our holiday.

So this is likely my last post until we get back. I've got a busy day tomorrow - gymnastics for Bean and preschool for Schmoo in the morning. I'm driving to pick up Grandma Lady in the afternoon and won't be back until after midnight. And then Papa and I take off first thing on Thursday morning to the big city, where we stay over night and then fly out to Mexico on Friday morning with the rest of Papa's work group.

Thoughts on the Day

It was so great to see Bean so content this morning. He really is an independent little guy, happy to do his own thing. His trains hold his attention for such a long period of time and it was cute to watch him talking with his stuffies. The only mishap was when we forgot to clean up the things he had used in Schmoo's room and she came home and was upset. I knew as soon as I remembered that we had forgotten to clean up that there would be an incident.

Both kids seem pretty excited about Grandma Lady's visit. Bean was asking today if I could go and pick her up today. He didn't want to wait any longer. Schmoo seemed to realize today that we will be going away, but I know that she'll be fine playing with her Grandma Lady for a whole week. Already she is talking about all the things she wants to do and play with her. It's going to be such a treat to get away again so soon after our Vegas trip on September.
