Rain, rain, go away

The Activities

The weather turned today. It warmed up enough that the non-stop snow turned into cold, miserable, non-stop rain. The clouds are low. It's no fun to go outside (after the last two great snow days). So what did we do? We went inside to get wet!

A busy morning. Out of the house early so I could get to my fitness class in time. It sure feels great to be on the move again after the 10 day break over Christmas. Schmoo and Bean went to the daycare and when I was finished, all three of us went swimming. Schmoo is getting so confident now in the pool with her life jacket on. She cruises around the kiddie pool "flowing river" and swims around getting flutter boards and balls for me and Bean. Bean is more cautious. He's more content to just stand up on the seat and watch everyone else. Schmoo was especially happy when her two girl-friends, H & C showed up with H's dad. They splashed around together for a bit and then we headed out of the pool.

Our morning of fun continued with a trip to Quizno's in the mall for a sandwich. The kids especially like it when we can eat the sandwich right there in the shop. I spontaneously (after watching Schmoo's inability to see clearly) decided to see if I could get her in to get her bangs (or fringe for you British folk) cut. We were in luck and 15 minutes later, both Schmoo and Bean were cruising around with a lollipop and Schmoo could see again!

A quiet afternoon. Auntie E was over with cousin I and R while Uncle R was snowboarding for the afternoon. I went into town quickly to run some errands and Papa headed out when I got back. Bean managed to nap today (hooray) so was full of energy to run around with cousin I when he got up. They all had a great play together while Auntie E took baby R to the doctor for a check-up. He's growing like a weed - already over 11 lbs at only 2 weeks old!

The usual routine of watching "Babar" before bedtime and then off to bed. We watched the movie "The Nanny Diaries" and I'm off to bed to listen to the rain.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Things of the Day

Favourite - there was a whole list tonight....swimming, getting a sandwich, getting a haircut, getting a lollipop

Not Favourite - when cousin I hit her (which we then talked about how I is just learning)

Thoughts on the Day

We had such a great morning today. We seemed to flow easily from activity to activity which was nice. Schmoo kept asking whether she was doing good listening today, which is something we are always talking about. It certainly makes life much easier when she does. This weekend will be another quiet one before we jump back into our life of activities next week. Papa is off fishing in the morning so no exercise for me. Maybe a nice quiet morning instead as I'm sure it will still be raining.
