The Activities
What an end to the day! We had a lovely day at home today until around 4pm when we headed out to our friend's house for dinner. It was our usual gang of three families - 6 kids, each family with two around the same age. The kids play pretty well now. We can arrive and the kids head off and do their own thing. It snowed here all day, so there was lots of shovelling for Papa and snow time for the kids. He took them out in the yard this morning for his go round of shovelling and then we all had a big play outside with our friends after dinner. The kids took turns going down their road in the sleds - three kids to one sled and they got going at a pretty quick pace. Then we spent an hour or so in their backyard where the dad had created their own skating rink. Everyone had fun throwing each other in the snow banks and moving around on the ice with the hockey sticks. Even Bean got into the hockey action. The evening ended with our struggle up their road. It hadn't been plowed and after we got one vehicle up the road and on the way, we struggled to get our van up the road. It took 6 or 8 tries, and finally some strategically placed sand to get the van to the highway. We were all in good spirits though. Perseverance was the name of the game. The kids returned home happy to head straight to their beds.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Parts of the Day
Favourite - going for dinner and a playover at C & S's house and seeing C & H there too
Not Favourite - when Mama couldn't tie the bow on her puppy toy this morning (it was quite the scene) and when our car got stuck
Thoughts on the Day
It felt great to have a lazy day today. Mama, Schmoo and Bean were all in their pj's for most of the day. Both kids had a nap this afternoon, so Mama and Papa got a little afternoon siesta as well - what a treat! We had a great evening with our friends. Our little group has become a great little gang, both for the parents and the kids. It was nice to be outside so much. Despite the massive amounts of snow, the temperature was nice enough to be outside for a long time.
It's interesting to see how the playmates are starting to switch a bit with C & H. C is the same age as Schmoo, but is starting to show a preference to playing with Bean, who is a boy. The same thing is happening with his little sister H, who Schmoo is starting to take under her wing. Their mom and I had a good laugh tonight, listening to Schmoo keep saying to H: "We want to do this, right H?"
