The Activities
Today was Bean's first day of gymnastics. He was absolutely beside himself this morning when he got up and we told him that today was his first day. He galloped around and kept saying what a big boy he is now. It was so great to see him so happy and excited. The class started after we dropped Schmoo off at preschool. His friend F was in the class too, so it made him that much more comfortable. He did great. I talked to his teacher at the beginning and encouraged her not to change the activities because of Bean. He's not a risk taker, similar to his sister. He knows his limitations and firmly told me when there was something he didn't want to do or try. But he still did great. There were only a couple of things he didn't want to do. Plus it was only the first day....think how much more confident he will get every week.
The class finished with enough time for me to sneak in a quick trip to the gym for a run before we picked up Schmoo. I'm officially addicted to exercising. We picked her up and then went for lunch at the bakery downtown (ha, ha....downtown). Then we headed to the used book store and we each picked a book - including a potty book for boys. A quick stop for some veggies for dinner and we headed home for quiet time. It was such a good morning.
The afternoon was quiet. Bean eventually went to sleep and Schmoo and I spent the afternoon in her room. A new video came in the mail today - Winnie the Pooh's latest adventure - so when Bean woke up, we all settled in to watch it until supper time. I snuck out after dinner when Papa got home to get a movie and left them all dancing around to the Beastie Boys in the kitchen. Schmoo kept asking Papa to "turn it up. I want it loud, Papa".
Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Things
Favourite - the list started with getting a new book and then grew to include (I can't remember them all) having a cookie, watching the Pooh movie, playing games on the computer
Not Favourite - none today
Thoughts on the Day
It really was a great day. No major meltdowns and we did lots of great stuff together. This morning's start with Bean's excitement was so wonderful. The second child always gets to do less when it comes to activities, so it was nice to finally get him out doing something, instead of just watching Schmoo from the sidelines.
