The snow continues

The Activities

The snow returned with avengence today. It snowed all through the night and all day long. It was a beautiful snow. Big soft flakes that gathered quickly. It was bad driving snow though, so Papa decided to stay home to work today. The kids slept in again today - not getting up until around 7:30am. We got ourselves organized and then went to the gym, so Mama could do her exercise. The kids had a great time in the gym daycare. We came straight home and the kids had a great morning playing. It was so cute to see them sat beside each other at the computer while Schmoo played her Treehouse games. She's getting so good now with the mouse and Bean loves to watch her.

The highlight of the morning was Bean wearing his underpants AND going for a big pee in his little potty. He wore them for over an hour, before we noticed the tell tale sign of a boy who needs to pee...grabbing his winkie! We went to the potty and he peed almost straight away. He kept standing up to see what was happening, but we managed to get him to finish. He was so proud of himself and happily accepted a sticker for trying and an M&M chocolate for doing.

I settled him down for a nap and then took Schmoo with me to do some grocery shopping. She's a great help now, wanting to choose the vegetables and put them in the cart. She even got a free chocolate chip cookie when we stopped in the bakery for some bagels. She was so excited and kept telling me about all the treats she was getting today. We returned home to a quiet house...Bean actually was napping. Schmoo helped me get the tortellini soup ready and then we had a snuggle in her bed, telling stories about our adventures while we were on holiday.

Bean got up and we headed out in full snow gear into the backyard for a play before the sun went down. They had a great time making their way through the knee-high snow, sliding down the slide, making snow angels and playing hide and seek. We went in when Papa returned home from town to pick up the dog for her trip to the vet. I ate dinner with the kids and then we snuggled on the couch to watch Babar. They were playing great afterwards, until a disagreement over a car sent them both into a frenzy and I knew it was bedtime.

The evening has been quiet. Papa headed out after 8:30pm for his late soccer game and I continued to plough my way through my book "The Other Boleyn Girl". I'm almost finished. Schmoo has been restless, coming out of her room several times, but I think she has finally settled.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Parts of the Day
Favourite - playing outside in the snow and when Bean did a pee on the potty

Not Favourite - when Bean fell off the bed when they were playing (don't worry - he's ok) and when Bean took the spider car away from her

Thoughts on the Day

It was a nice quiet day. I had hoped to get out to see Auntie E today, but the roads were terrible and it made more sense to stay home. I'll get to see her on Thursday, when she's coming in for a sleepover as both Papa and Uncle R will be away on separate trips. It was nice to see the kids playing so well today. They have so much fun playing imaginative games - going camping, playing soccer, always with their friends C & H supposedly in tow. The mood can turn sour very quickly though, as was evidenced tonight when Bean saw one of his cars in Schmoo's bucket of toys and she refused to give it back. They were both hysterical and unreasonable.
