Lots of play-overs

The Activities

A busy day with entertaining today. My morning started with Schmoo waking me up. She managed to kick me most of the night. We had a ton of snow overnight so I spent at least a half hour outside shovelling snow and taking out the garbage. We packed up and headed into town for our Thursday Mother's Group. It was a good morning and the kids had fun with their friends, C & H. They came back to our house for lunch and it quickly became apparent that they were tired and had had enough of each other. Their mom and I spent most of our visit managing Schmoo and H's mood swings about one thing or another.

After they left I put Bean down for his nap and Schmoo went into her room for quiet time. When I went to check on her later she was snoozing too, so I snuggled down into my own bed for a rare afternoon nap. Bean woke me up an hour later and Schmoo came and crawled into my bed for a sleepy snuggle. We ended up having "girl talk" in my bed for a long time, talking about all the things we like. Schmoo like doggies, cake, fruit, reading books and seeing movies in the theatre. She liked it when I told her what things she liked that were the same as me or Papa. Bean didn't even come looking for me after his nap, just went straight to his trains.

Auntie E and the kids arrived just before supper time and after she fed baby R, she went out for a quick visit with her friends from work for a going away party for one of them. I was left to juggle the four kids and it went pretty smoothly, other than baby R being fussy with no food to soothe him. Auntie E came back for bedtime and all the kids went to bed easily. I went into town to pick up our pizza and calamari dinner (a bit of a slip from my eating plan, but it was a treat night) and we settled in to watch Lost. Baby R had his fussy period but eventually fell asleep snuggled into his mama.

Schmoo's Favourite and Not Favourite Parts of the Day

Favourite - talking about the things we like to do in Mama's bed, play overs with cousin I and her friends C & H
Not Favourite - nothing

Thoughts on the Day

I sure love to snuggle my kids. Schmoo has become such a good snuggler, especially when I'm in bed. Bean on the other hand is very selective with his snuggling. He does insist on a snuggle at quiet time and bed time. We're thinking it's time for a big boy bed - not the same size as Schmoo, but bigger than a toddler bed. That way I would really be able to get down and snuggle with him at night. There were no successes on the potty today, but he did wear his underpants for a little bit. I just need to be patient with the process.
