At last, a date night

Today's weather was strange. It started cloudy, then poured with rain, the sun came out, it rained some more and now the skies have cleared again. It wasn't warm though like the last few days, so it was back to jeans and sweaters. Today was an extra busy Monday. The kids seem to be doing well staying in their rooms until the 7am beep, which is nice. Schmoo is right beside my bed though at 7am, asking to turn her shows on. Clifford the big red dog and Curious George seem to be the top picks as of late.

Bean and I dropped Schmoo off at preschool and carried on to the gym. We had made a good start so we were able to get a daycare spot. That meant some extra time on the bike for Mama. It was a great class. Aerobox today, with a teacher that doesn't teach often, but when she does it's a great workout. Papa even knows her through her other job up at the golf course. A quick shower and trip to the grocery store to attempt to buy some special bread and then off to pick up Schmoo. We came home for lunch and then were out again for Schmoo's gymnastics. Bean and I spent the hour walking around doing errands and then going to the grocery store again to pick up the bread that was now ready.

Quiet time wasn't as successful. Both of the kids were excited about the babysitter coming tonight, so were restless in their rooms. Bean refused to nap so when I had finished making the soup that I was making for my friend A and her family, I released the children from their quiet times and we packed up and headed to A's house to drop off dinner. I was quite proud of myself - homemade minestrone soup, with ciabatta bread, and homemade sweet white chocolate biscuits with fresh berries and whip cream. Plus I made enough for our family too, so after a quick visit we returned home for our own dinner.

Papa returned from work while we were eating dinner and after supper had a big snuggle on the couch with the kids. No bath tonight, but we did watch Babar. The kids were all ready in their pyjamas when the babysitter arrived and Papa and I were able to get away without much fuss with time for a drink at the lounge before our movie. It was a great movie, just too much popcorn for Mama. My will power is so low when it comes to certain things. We were home before 10pm and are now trying to settle a restless Beanie who is having a night terror from being overtired and no nap today.

A cute story about Schmoo from this afternoon. On the way out to A's house, she asked why A and her family couldn't make their own dinner. I explained to her that when people have a new baby that there is lots of extra work and so it's nice for their friends to help make a meal once in a while. Plus it makes Mama feel good to help her friend and it makes them feel good to be helped. (What a great teaching opportunity). To all of this she replied "well, what about their lunch?". Always thinking, my little girl.
