Weird Weather Wednesday

The weather was strange today. The sun came and went a lot. The wind was high (not great for the dog, of course). A rain storm rushed through around 5:30pm, followed by the sun again and now at 8:30pm it looks like there's another storm about to hit. The wind is especially frustrating. I'm ready for it just to be hot and sunny...but just wait, I'm sure I'll be frustrated with the heat once it gets here.

We had a good day today, until the end when the kids' listening went out the window and bedtime had to be cut short with no stories and the loss of some toys. I wish that bedtime could be a peaceful, pleasant experience but invariably it is tainted with overtired kids who are acting up. Schmoo had a fun last day at preschool with a trip down to the big park. She was running around with a little boy from her class, balancing on the roundabout when Bean and I got there to pick her up. Bean and I had a nice morning, first at gymnastics and then out and about on main street with Auntie E and the kids. He managed to enjoy a whole cinnamon bun to himself and then got a weiner dog balloon made for him by the local clown. Unfortunately, the balloon dog didn't even make it home as it popped when he was poking it with a stick in the car. Bean's nose is running like a leaky faucet these days, not sure if it's a summer cold or allergies so he's got a little rash under his nose, poor guy.

We were excited to get a package from Nana and Grandad today which included two make yourself puppets. I set about sewing them up before lunch and the kids had a great time putting all the stickers on. Auntie E, Uncle R and the kids came over for lunch so cousin I was entralled with watching Schmoo put her stickers on her puppet. We had a nice lunch all together and then I put my kids down for quiet time after they left. Another unsuccessful nap day for Bean. I fear that his napping may be on the way out. Today's "open door policy" wasn't quite so successful on the poo front as he managed to do his business in his pullup. I think I'm just going to take the pullup away completely now during the day. The kids stayed in their rooms until it was time to come out (bar a half dozen visits out of his room for Bean) and then spent the rest of the afternoon playing. They managed to make a huge mess in Bean's room with all his toys and clothes.

Papa was home early in the afternoon and managed to sneak in a cat nap before his soccer game tonight. I made the kids' dinner and then went out for an hour to myself before bedtime to pick up some things for lunch tomorrow. I returned to super clean kids and like I said, a frustrating bedtime. I've been busy in the kitchen tonight making chocolate chip cookies for Schmoo's preschool BBQ tomorrow night and am going to settle in with another movie. Another busy day ahead tomorrow. Here's hoping the sun shines!
