Beach day....kind of

Today was supposed to be our first official beach day. We were organized to go up the valley to meet up with Auntie E and the gang for a day at their beach. Grandma Lady took the kids up there first, giving me a chance to get in my gym fix. I followed behind and arrived at the beach at 12:30pm with the adults lunch to find a windswept beach with only our little family hanging out down by the water. Bean was in his element, throwing rocks and sticks in the water. The kids didn't seem to mind, but the adults were pretty windswept. We ate our lunch wrapped in the picnic blankets on the grass, in awe of the single teenager that showed up and lay in her bikini on her towel. The sun was out in fits and starts, but it was in no way warm, especially with the wind.

We packed up the kids and headed back to Auntie E's house for the afternoon. The kids had a great time running around, playing on the deck, wandering through the forest and playing hide and seek. Cousin I had a nap while our kids played outside and then watched a movie for their own quiet time. It was great to just hang out and enjoy the quiet of their property. We stayed the entire afternoon, wanting to be with Grandma Lady who heads back home tomorrow. It was also Grampa W's birthday (Uncle R's grandpa) so we stayed for a family dinner. Papa didn't come out since he had work to do in town and was focussed on getting the lawn cut and ready for Team Indi's arrival this weekend (hopefully). I shuttled the kids out of the house after I finished my dinner and they both fell fast asleep on the way home. Lots of fresh air, running around and sunshine makes for very tired kids!
