Not sure if I've already declared its arrival, but I think summer has finally arrived. Today was a hot day with clear skies. As I walked around town this afternoon, doing my errands, I was conscious of actually feeling hot and over dressed in my capris. I'm hoping we're in it now for the long haul, although weeks and weeks of hot weather like we have had in past summers isn't a good thing either. Oh well, we'll worry about that when the time comes.
I had a great day off. Didn't get half the things done that I had hoped, but managed to get through my main list that I had compiled in the week. Exciting things like pay house insurance and deposit cheques. I forgot that I had a volunteer meeting in the afternoon, so that cut into the house cleaning time that I had tentatively psyched myself up for. I did manage to work through Bean's toys, which he had graciously strewn all over his room, weeding out the excess paper and junk.
The kids were happy to go off to daycare this morning. As always, they hit the ground running and are hardly bothered to even say good-bye to me now. I headed to the gym for a super strength workout, with a bit of a run afterwards to work up some sweat. I got paired with an ex-hockey player for some of the partner work, so pushed myself on some of the arm exercises more than I usually do. Am feeling pretty good though tonight, so I don't think I over did it.
Home for an breakfast bun and granola bar from the local coffee shop for lunch, a shower and quick cleaning spree of Bean's room before I headed into town for the rest of the afternoon. Managed to keep myself busy until 4:30pm at my meeting and doing errands before I picked up the sushi for the kids' supper and went to pick them up. The teacher was waiting for me at the gate to give me the lowdown on Schmoo's injured ear. Nothing serious, just bruised from a squishing accident with one of her friends. A good opportunity to talk about choosing safe games to play with one another. Bean was wearing new shorts so I immediately knew that his potty activities has been less than perfect. They said he did ask to go once and off he trundled to the potty. I think because a teacher wasn't able to help him (it was rest time) he didn't actually do his business. He still needs help with his pants, especially the jean shorts he had on today.
We returned home to the usual Friday afternoon hysteria. The kids ate sushi (and bagels and jam toast and raspberries) while watching Babar. Bean had a meltdown at bathtime so after some time out time on our bed, we ushered him quickly to bed where he immediately fell asleep. Schmoo was a bit more pleasant and has fallen to sleep quickly as well. Our evening looks to be a quiet one. Papa is going to watch a Canada soccer game and I'm going to find myself a movie to watch. Exciting Friday nights!
As I was putting the kids to bed I thought that I wouldn't have any pictures to post today, but then remembered these pictures I took this morning when I went in to get Bean. He was still quiet in his room at 7:30am and when I went in I found him looking out the window, watching for squirrels!
