Beautiful music and holiday guests

Team Indi has officially arrived on their holiday! We were all very excited to see them pull into the driveway this afternoon after their journey from Cowtown. They got an early morning start and had a great trip out our way. The kids all fell into an ease with one another and enjoyed running around and keeping each other busy all afternoon. We're looking forward to the days ahead while they're here to enjoy the hot, hot weather and summer activities. The highlight will be the Canada Day celebrations on Tuesday!

Friday was a busy day getting ready. The kids had a good day at daycare. No injuries like last week, although Bean was suffering with sore eyes when I arrived to pick him up after he had gotten sunscreen in them. His two day run of good potty going was cut off yesterday with one accident, but we picked up the momentum today with another great day with all his pees in the potty. My day was busy with the gym in the morning, a lunch date at the bakery with Papa, house cleaning and grocery shopping in the afternoon. I got to sneak away after the kids' suppertime to meet up with D & C in town for dinner and an amazing concert with the Canadian Tenors. Check out this link of them in concert in Ottawa: http://www.canadiantenors.com/rom/

All three of us were blown away by their singing. I bought their CD and was able to get it autographed by them all at the end of the show. We headed out for dessert after the show too, giggling like school girls. It was a great night out! I came home and promptly loaded the CD onto our iPod and went to bed listening to them serenading me in my ear!
Today was a bit lower key. The kids were up early, as usual, despite my efforts to cover Schmoo's window again. Papa headed out in the morning with a friend to go on a scenic drive up the mountain. He had a great time and came back with some beautiful pictures of town from the view point. They even saw a bear on their journey! I hung out with the kids at home - well, they actually coordinated their own playdate with the neighbour, M and were over there for an hour before I went to get them to go into town to pick up some last minute groceries for dinner. The photographer that took our family pictures dropped off our picture order. When I told Schmoo that she was bringing the pictures, Schmoo asked whether that meant candy was coming too. I couldn't believe that she remembered that the photographer had promised them a bag of candy with their pictures!

It was a scorching hot day here so I tried to keep our errands quick. We picked up a few things at Wal-Mart and then had a sandwich lunch before picking up the groceries. The kids were excited when they spotted one of their daycare teachers in the parking lot. They wanted to go over and say hello and chat before we headed into the store. We came home to find Papa back from his adventure. The kids helped him pick some of the strawberries that have ripened in our neighbour's garden by the road and then it was inside for quiet time before Team Indi arrived.

We managed to get the kids into bed at close to their regular bedtimes and enjoyed a lovely adults only dinner out on the front deck after the sun went down. Papa cooked up a delicious dinner of homemade burgers, corn on the cob and a fancy potato and green bean salad! We're aiming for a relatively early night to be full of energy for tomorrow's day of heat and fun.
