Another day of school

Today was our dry run at the new morning routine. Papa is going to be in charge of dropping of the kids at 7:30am (Bean) and 7:45am (Schmoo) at their before school care so that I can get to work for 7:30am. Today was our dry run with extra time and it went nice and smooth. Both kids were the first kids at their schools. Bean was happy to just jump into doing a puzzle. Schmoo was a bit more hesitant. Her before school care is upstairs in her school's building and today she had to meet yet another new adult. She didn't say much as we bid her farewell on her second day of kindergarten.

I dropped Papa back at home and carried on to the gym for a quick run and bike ride. I'm trying to stay away from the strength training classes for a little bit as it appears that I have injured my chest muscle. I met up with D for breakfast after that. We talked about how the kids are doing in their new schools. Both of us were happy to report how easily they have jumped into a new place. I'm sure it's too early to say whether we'll get some pushback on the new schedule, but it's good that both kids are eager to go back after their first couple of days. I picked up Schmoo first from kindergarten. She was full of smiles and a folder full of things for me to read. Our first homework project - to read a poem over the weekend and find a family picture for her to take to school on Monday. I let her play at the playground for 10 minutes while I chatted with a few of the other parents and then we headed off to pick up Bean. He was outside again running around with C & H who were both at his school today.

We came home for cheese sandwich lunches and bid farewell to Papa who was heading out for a round of golf with 3 other guys that he works with. The kids had a great time building their own forts to play in. They actually ended up playing in one or the other together. Quiet time wasn't very successful. Bean spent most of the time yelling at me about one thing or the other including asking when he could wake up. I got them up at 3pm and we headed into town to buy a birthday gift for Schmoo's friend M. She's been invited to her 5th birthday party tomorrow afternoon. It took some time, but eventually Schmoo picked out a new toy and book for her friend. We picked up some sushi for supper and headed home to eat.

With no naps today it will be early to bed for the kids today. They were both up at 6:15am this morning, so it's been a full day. I gave them a big bath after supper and now they're getting to watch a show before we finish with bedtime. Papa will be home later so I'm on my own for dinner. I've got another movie to watch so will settle in on the couch later on.

P.S. Happy Birthday Uncle C! We're looking forward to seeing you next week!

P.P.S We hope Grandma Lady had a safe trip to Beijing and will check in soon!
