Yesterday was full of fun activities though. It was Grandma Lady and L's last morning with us, so I got to enjoy a nice long sleep-in. Schmoo was up at 6:30am and downstairs straight away. Bean wasn't far behind her at 7:00am. They had a great time watching shows, eating their breakfast and hanging out with the Grandmas. Eventually (after Papa's soccer game was finished), we all got organized to go into town to the coffee shop for a muffin. We sat out on the patio, but were soon chilled. The weather really has turned to fall and none of us were particularly well prepared for the cool wind. We made our way back to the van with intentions of going to the store as a family of four, but Bean took a major spill when running down the ramp in front of the Legion. He scraped up both knees and gave himself a huge goose egg on his forehead. So instead we returned home for blankie and band-aids and I got to go grocery shopping alone.
After our chicken sandwich lunch, Papa headed out for a quick 9 holes of golf with his friend K. Schmoo and Bean said their good-byes to Grandma Lady and L and then went for quiet time. Bean successfully settled for a nap, so Schmoo was granted permission to come out of her room early to hang out downstairs a bit longer. The Grandmas headed out around 2pm and at 3pm I roused Bean from his slumber to take Schmoo up the hill to her friend C's house for a girl's back to school party. Bean and I headed back into town to pick up Uncle R's mugs from the coffee shop and then headed out to his friend G's house, with a cookie in hand for a playdate for Bean. We had a great visit at their house until about 5pm when it was time to head home for Bean's dinner. We returned to find Papa snoozing on the couch. Obviously a strenuous game of golf. I raced up the hill to get Schmoo at 6pm, removing her from the party early, in order to get to my own playdate in town. She came home laden with a bowl of ice cream to go and some self-decorated cupcakes. At least I remembered to make one up for Bean too so he wouldn't feel too left out.
I had a great girls' night out with C & D. We visited the local martini lounge first and when it took them forever to serve us, we decided to move along to a different venue for dinner. We all commented on how we need to make more time for those kinds of nights out. I returned home at 10pm and quickly made my way to bed, leaving Papa at the computer listening to music.
