She may be growing up fast....

but this little girl still needs her blankie. Schmoo has done amazing this week in her first full week of kindergarten. She's been excited to go every day and has come home with lots of little stories to tell. She's also be happy to go to the before school care that we've arranged at her school so Papa and I can get to our respective jobs. It's nice to know that my "baby" is still in there when she starts to get tired and starts sucking her mouth and asking for her blankie. We had a busy day again today with another morning at school for her and then a trip out to the valley to check in on Mac (the dog), pick up some mail and make a bank stop for Auntie E. As soon as we got in the car and the movement started to lull the kids, Schmoo started to ask for her blanket. Bean is attached to his little blanket too, but no quite as much as Schmoo.

My morning with Bean was nice. We had a leisurely start to the day since we didn't need to be out of the house until 8:45am. A nice contrast from the 7:20am starts the rest of the week. We made it to school with enough time for the kids to play on the playground with the mass of other children. Bean unfortunately took a tumble right before the bell rang, so was full of tears as Schmoo went off to start her day. He and I then carried on to the gym for a long overdue workout. The mornings have been full this week, but I've still missed getting my blood moving at the gym in the morning when I'm struggling to motivate myself in the evenings to get out and moving. We came home for an hour or so and Bean happily did his own thing and then insisted on a big snuggle with me in the bed.

We went to the bakery for lunch after another play on the playground when Schmoo was finished and then headed out to Auntie E's "old" house. Mac was ecstatic to see us, especially since we brought Airlie along for the ride too. We took them both for a walk up the hill and through the bushes, making for very happy dogs and rather miserable tired children. Grandpa W was arriving to let Mac out for a run when we got back from our walk so we had a quick visit with him before heading back to town. The heavens opened as we made our way back, so it was time for a movie when we got home. Poor Bean could hardly make it to 5:30pm tonight. With 5 full days of activity and no naps this week, his poor little body was exhausted. He refused to eat his dinner and once the movie was done he almost begged to go to bed. He was asleep in no time. Schmoo stayed up a bit longer, reading her library book on the couch with both me and Papa and has gone to bed early as well. Papa and I are going to settle in with a bowl of gnocchi and Brad Pitt on the small screen.
