The garden harvest

The rain persisted today. It came, it went, it drizzled, it poured. Definitely a glimpse of the days to come. Today is the first day of fall and summer was definitely nowhere in sight. The day started early today. I decided to keep my spot on the board at Bean's preschool, which means an 8am meeting every couple of months. In order to sneak out for an hour, this meant I headed into work at 7am (instead of 7:30am) to get the necessary pre-opening work done. I said farewell to Grandma Lady and headed off in the rain. Papa met me outside of my workplace at 8am, having dropped off the kids to smooch me good-bye and swap cars. I made it to the meeting on time and on my way back to work got to see Schmoo in the schoolyard, seeing as it was only 8:50am when I parked the car by her school and headed back down the hill.

My morning passed quickly and soon enough I was headed back up the hill to pick up Schmoo. The playground was wet, so we headed straight over to pick up Bean, who was of course disappointed that he didn't get to eat his lunch at school today. Home for lunch, a play and quiet time. Bean fell into a deep slumber, but Schmoo wasn't interested. I'm hoping now that we're through the first couple of weeks of school that Bean will fall back into a napping schedule. Papa was home working, so I crawled into our bed for a snooze and he entertained Schmoo once her alarm went to get up from quiet time. Both kids were up at 4:00pm when Auntie E called from Utah for a chat. You HAVE to read her blog from today....crazy times at their house.

The kids had their tortellini supper and I got myself organized for the gym. Before I left, Papa went out into the rain in the backyard and harvested the garden. He came in the house with a zucchini, a chili pepper, two tomatoes and two handfuls of prune plums from our tree. Schmoo immediately jumped for the plums! Let's hope the cooler weather won't wreck the food that still remains to ripen out there. I snuck away early to pick up a few groceries and then went for my workout. My body must be working hard with this new routine because the class felt gruelling tonight. I returned home to a beef fajita dinner with Papa and a snuggle with Bean who was still up waiting for me. It's the start of TV nights here. I've got a couple more Tudors episodes to watch and the Boston Legal starts tonight! Hooray for primetime TV!!
