School event number two

It's been a full "school event" weekend. Today's school event was at Bean's preschool. The preschool is in the basement of the local United Church and they put on a BBQ over lunch today for the families at the preschool. We headed over there after Mama's gym class and Schmoo's dance class. There weren't as many families as last night's party, but still a nice turn out. The kids had a great time running around with our usual gaggle of friends - C&H and C&S, since both of the younger sibings attend the preschool with Bean. Papa didn't come along as he was at a soccer tournament up the road for the afternoon. The sun was out in full force today so we were all hot and tired by the end of the party. It was difficult keeping both of the kids away from the desserts table which was laden with rice krispie squares and brownies to eat. I did manage to get both kids to eat something "healthy" before they started asking for treats.
The morning hadn't started off very well. Apparently when I was out at the gym, Bean conducted a toilet experiment following his business in the bathroom and managed to plug and overflow the toilet. Papa the plumber was called into action and after a quick trip to the hardware store for a new plunger, managed to stop the toilet from overflowing and clean things up. Needless to say, Bean is now very well versed in how much toilet paper to put into the toilet.
The afternoon was quiet. I had briefly considered packing up the kids and heading out to watch Papa's second soccer game, but decided that a quiet afternoon at home was probably in order, especially after such a busy week. Bean crashed out quickly and I crawled into my own bed in hopes of a nap myself. Schmoo came looking for me around 2:30pm and I managed to strongly urge her to join me for an afternoon siesta. We all slept through until 4:30pm when Bean woke up calling for permission to "wake up". Their moods are always a bit grumpy after a big nap, so I endured their whines while I made their dinner. Papa returned around 6pm and Grandma Lady and Sam arrived shortly afterwards. The rest of the evening was spent receiving and perusing all the Olympic gifts that Grandma Lady had brought back from China for the kids. She had a great trip and will no doubt have lots of stories to tell tomorrow. I made a couple of trips out to the grocery store tonight to pick up things for dinner and now we're settling in for a very late dinner.
