Busy, Busy, Busy

The Activities
Today has been a busy day. Last night was long and painful. Bean woke up every 1.5 hours crying and in need of consolation, so my hopes for an early night to ward off getting sick was soon thrown out the window. The only thing I could think of was an ear infection, so I made an appointment to take him in this afternoon to the doctor.

The kids had their usual early start. We got ourselves organized to go to our Thursday morning mother's group - the first time in many weeks. The kids had a great time playing and the mom's started a new book study, reading a book called "Raising Great Kids". These books always provide for great discussions amongst the small groups. C & H invited us over for lunch after the mom's group so we went over there for an hour or so, before I needed to head back into town for a finance meeting. The kids were pretty good at the meeting (eating their snack and playing with toys), but it certainly was more difficult to focus with them milling around.

We had enough time after my meeting to head home for 45 minutes to re-group before we headed back to the doctor's office. I had hoped that Papa might be home so Schmoo could stay home, but no such luck. He had Airlie out for her birthday walk and then had other calls to make in town. We were waiting for our turn at the doctor's office when suddenly Bean called out "there's cousin I". Turns out she's got a pretty bad fever so Auntie E had brought her into town to have her checked out. How funny that we had our appointments back to back.

The doctor checked Bean and said his ears looked a bit inflamed but nothing too serious. Just give him a dose of Tylenol at bedtime to help relieve some of the pressure. We came home for dinner of rice and chicken. Schmoo kept herself busy making a tent in the front room while I made supper up. Papa came home and we switched off, so I could go out for dinner with some friends. I've returned to a quiet house, with Papa snoozing on the couch.

Thoughts on the Day
Bean did great today. He wore his underpants all day with no accidents. He had a poo this morning in his pull-up so still no success on that front, but it's great that he can go all day in his underpants. I think I'll even try to send him to daycare tomorrow in underpants and see how he does. We had a much happier day today as well. No major meltdowns, which was nice. The kids were both pretty tired by suppertime though, with no quiet time at all today. Tomorrow will be a long day again for them, as they are at daycare all day. Depending on tonight's sleep situation, I'm hoping to have enough energy for a visit to the gym and maybe a nice snooze in the afternoon.
