Friday / Saturday Recap

The Activities

Friday was a great day. After last Friday having both kids home sick, it was a real treat to have the day to myself. I still wasn't feeling great, but decided to try and sweat it out at the gym. My class was excellent. It was all kinds of different boxing activities, which was hard work and lots of fun. I did some birthday party / Easter shopping at Wal-Mart and then headed home for lunch. Papa headed out for the afternoon for work and I tried to have a nap. I was VERY disappointed when I just couldn't seem to fall asleep. It was nice to have a quiet house though, so I enjoyed just dozing in bed until it was time to get up, shower and head out to the chiropractor.

I picked up the kids a bit early so that I could give them a bath and have them settled in bed before our babysitter arrived at 6:30pm. It was date night! We were just finishing bedtime when she arrived so we headed into town in time for the early movie. We met our friends U & L (who went to Mexico with us) and went to see "No Country for Old Men", the best picture winner at the Oscars this year. It was violent and very strange, but nice to see a movie on the big screen. We went out for a drink and something to eat afterwards so we could catch up and were home just before eleven.

Today was a busier day. We bought alarm clocks for the kids yesterday in hopes of keeping them quiet and in their rooms until at least 7am. Schmoo still came out twice before 7am, but Bean kept quiet until his "beeped". Papa got up to watch soccer and I rolled out of bed after 8am in time to head off to the gym. I was home in time for Papa and Schmoo to leave for soccer. I put Bean down for a nap early as we needed to be down at the park at 2pm for his friend F's birthday party. It was a beautiful spring day here again today and the kids had a great time playing at the playground, which has almost dried up and down at the beach. Bean especially loved throwing the rocks into the lake with F.
We headed back to F's house for an early supper and chocolate birthday cake. The kids had a great time playing and were still in good spirits when we got home after 5pm. Papa was happy to have a quiet afternoon to himself, I'm sure. The kids have headed off to bed a bit later tonight. It's daylight savings here tonight, so hopefully our day won't start too early tomorrow. Uncle C is due to arrive tomorrow (he'll stay at Auntie E's house tonight) so there will be lots of activity tomorrow.

Thoughts on the Day

I can't believe that we are starting to celebrate third birthdays already. It's amazing to see all these little people that we've been friends with now since Bean was born, growing up. It is still crazy to think that Bean is a week away from being three himself. His potty training continues to progress. He's gone three days now with underwear all day and only a couple of accidents. Still no poo-ing success, but hopefully he'll start to get it soon.

The mood has been better the last few days as well. Maybe it was just the colds that the kids were battling with last week that made them so tempermental. I'm still suffering with a bit of a cough, and my energy is a bit lower, but I don't feel too bad. Hopefully I can just push through it and not get really sick. It will be nice to see Uncle C for a few days. We haven't seen him since Papa's birthday so there will be lots of stories to tell, I'm sure. He and I are planning a ski day tomorrow, so hopefully the snow and the sun are both good to us.
