Rainy Tuesday

The Activities
The long grey season of rain started today. The weather couldn't figure out what it wanted to do, alternating between pockets of sun and torrential downpour. Needless to say, rainy weather at this time of year makes for stay-at-home, stir crazy kids. Our day started with a disagreement about going to the gym. The kids wanted to stay home. I wanted to go. Luckily, Uncle C is still here and was happy to supervise the stay at home activities, so off to the gym I went. I was home by 10:30am and Bean started complaining about wanting to go out. These kids, they're never happy!

After a long drawn out lunch, I packed the kids up for a quick trip into town to visit the library. We hung out there, reading books and playing with the toys for about 45 minutes and then did a walk around the block to pick up a few last minute things for supper. Our last stop was the bakery, so the kids came out with a fresh chocolate chip cookie to eat on the way home. Lucky kids. I bought an extra one and then decided to stick to my will power and brought it home for Uncle C to eat.

The afternoon passed quickly with quiet time. I spent the whole time vacuuming and mopping down the floors. Two dogs makes for mucky floors very quickly. After supper I headed out to pick up a movie for myself for tonight. Papa and Uncle C have gone into town for Papa's playoff soccer game. Uncle C is the cheering section. The kids had fun building themselves a fort before bedtime and were snuggled up together wanting to spend the night.
Schmoo's Favourite Parts of the Day
Favourite - watching shows in the morning and going to the library
Thoughts on the Day

The alarm clock rule worked better today. After not getting shows yesterday, Schmoo decided to stay in her room until 7:15am. I even heard her get up, go to the bathroom and then go back to bed. Usually she insists on coming into our room and announcing that she needs to go to the bathroom. Bean was quiet in his room too, until the beep went. Hopefully this continues. I'm okay with them waking up a bit earlier, but 6am is far too early for them to start running around together. Better for them to have some quiet time on their own to start the day.
